I am a licensed psychotherapist in private practice in New York City.  I was trained as a clinical social worker at New York University and have done post-graduate training in psychodynamic, EMDR, and cognitive therapies.  In addition to practicing psychotherapy, I teach clinical practice classes at Columbia University's School of Social Work.

I have extensive experience working with adults who have problems with addiction, anxiety, depression, and trauma.  I am a certified EMDR therapist, and I've been trained to respond to recent traumatic events.

I provide gay-affirmative psychotherapy with men and women who struggle with issues related to sexuality.

Similarly, helping adults overcome barriers to healthy intimacy is a frequent focus of therapy.

I have strong interest in artistic and creative processes and have experience working with artists, musicians, actors, and writers.  Helping artists work through creative blocks is a special focus of therapy for artists.

My practice is informed by spiritual practice.  Indeed, I believe that the most effective psychotherapy draws upon the deep wisdom of the great spiritual traditions: Judeo-Christianity and Buddhism.  I practice meditation and believe that mindfulness meditation compliments and enhances psychotherapy practice.

I work hard to create a safe psychotherapy space where you can explore and address whatever arises for you. Indeed, I believe that whole-hearted listening is the essence of effective psychotherapy and the ground of deep healing.
