I will encourage you to talk and will carefully listen to what you have to tell me. You can say anything.  I will ask questions to help me better understand you.  As our work together progresses, I will offer observations about patterns of thinking and behavior that may be affecting your ability to relate to others or feel satisfied with your life.  I may offer an observation in order to help you understand yourself.  I will help you identify ways of solving problems.

Are you taking new patients now?

What types of problems can you help me with?

I specialize in helping:

  • Men and women who have experienced trauma.
  • Men and women who experience anxiety.
  • Men and women who want to improve their relationships and their ability to be intimate.
  • Men and women struggling to understand and be comfortable with their sexuality.

  • Working people who want to earn more money and attain higher career satisfaction.

How long will it take before I feel better?

Everyone is different, and everyone's problems are different.  it takes time to feel better.  Therapy requires an investment of time, attention and energy.  The more time and attention you give to yourself in therapy, the better you'll feel.

I will occasionally ask how you feel you are progressing and for feedback about how we are working together.  Therapy is a collaborative process, and your feedback to me is essential for insuring that our work is productive and meaningful for you.

How long do therapy sessions last?

Sessions for individuals are 50 minutes. They are usually scheduled once a week. However, some problems may require more frequent sessions.  You and I will decide how frequently we will meet.

Sessions for couples are 75 minutes and are scheduled weekly.  However, as the couple makes progress, we will discuss the possibility of a less frequent schedule.

Do you take insurance?

I do not accept insurance.  However, I can help you with insurance reimbursement.

Insurance companies require a great deal of information about you, the therapy you are undertaking, and the progress you are making.  The insurance companies will require that I give you a mental illness diagnosis, an outline of the treatment plan with progress being made, goals and other material of that nature.  I believe that the therapeutic process and relationship is a private one that should be protected in order for us to work together.  Insurance companies can intrude upon that privacy.

Should you want help with insurance reimbursement, you and I will discuss the process thoroughly.  I believe in transparency and will inform you of what I will provide at each step of the process.

How do I pay you?

Payment is due at the end of each session. I accept cash or check. I can give you a receipt upon request, or I can provide you with a quarterly statement of receipts.  Some clients ask for an annual, end-of-the-year statement, which I will provide.

What if I need to reschedule or cancel my session?

24 business hours’ notice is required to cancel and reschedule a session. Otherwise, you are financially responsible for the full session fee. Payment is due at the next session.
